For individuals requiring assistance to complete their income tax and benefit return and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist. Volunteers E-File your return to CRA.

Hours	2026 Dates: Mar 9, 2 pm-5 pm Mar 14, 10:30 am-3:30 pm Mar 26, 10:30 am-1 pm Mar 28, 10:30 am-3:30 pm Mar 30, 2 pm-5 pm Apr 9, 10:30 am-1 pm Apr 11, 10:30 am-3:30 pm Apr 13, 2 pm-5 pm Apr 18, 10:30 am-3:30 pm Apr 23, 10:30 am-1 pm Apr 27, 2 pm-5 pm Drop-off or phone appointments may be done during the rest of the year, call or email for information.

Eligibility	Suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only: Family size and total family income: 1 person $40,000 2 persons $55,000 3 persons $60,000 4 persons $65,000 5 persons $70,000 More than 5 persons $70,000 plus $5,000 for each additional person Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: returns for deceased persons individuals who file for bankruptcy self-employed individuals individuals who report capital gains or losses individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include: Indigenous peoples Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients Newcomers to Canada Seniors Students
Application	Phone the Elmvale Library and leave your name and phone number and a volunteer will be in contact to arrange either an in-person or a virtual-by-phone appointment. OR Drop off your tax documents, date of birth, contact information (name, address, phone and email address) at the library. Please place all paperwork inside a sealed envelope labelled INCOME TAXES and your name. A volunteer will prepare them and return them for pickup.
