• Meeting dates and times are flexible and subject to the availability of the majority of committee members. Advance notice of meetings is provided. The Town of Collingwood now permits electronic participation in committee meetings making it easier/more accessible for committee members to be included in discussion if they cannot make it to a scheduled meeting however electronic participation does not count towards quorum.

Volunteers needed to help set up craft workshops in Beeton and Alliston seniors apartment housing. Other duties include socializing with seniors, helping seniors make a craft, serving food and drink, and cleaning up the workshops. Must have access to transportation to get to workshop locations. Workshops take place every other Thursday afternoon from 1-3 pm. Arriving early and leaving late is expected due to set up and clean up.

GTHS Dog Care volunteers help to maintain the health and welfare of GTHS dogs by providing exercise, training and companionship. The purpose of a dog care volunteer is to give a GTHS dog a 'break' from the kennel, while reinforcing behaviours that help make the dog more adoptable. Dog Care Volunteers also help with general work around the shelter such as dishes, laundry, shoveling and kennel cleaning.  
 
Responsibility: GTHS Dog Care Volunteers are responsible for ensuring their dog remain safe and secure in their care. They must follow GTHS policies and procedures.

Responsibility: The GTHS Cat Care Technician follows the medication charts and feline record binders administering medications and care as needed. Assistance with feline intake and transportation throughout the shelter is also required. This position ensures

Big Sisters Traditional Program - A Big Sister is matched with a Little Sister ensuring they have similar interests to spend one-to-one time together, developing a friendship and engage in mutually desired activities.  
 
Couples for Kids - Volunteer with your partner or spouse and be matched to a Little Brother or Little Sister to give the gift of friendship to a child.  
 
In-School Mentoring- The program takes place at the child’s school, during the school year. The mentor spends one hour per week doing a fun activity or just talking with a child who could use a friend. Employers are encouraged to give employees the time during the work day to volunteer. 
 
Boys Club for boys 9-12 years of age - The group meets Tuesday's at 6:30 at Connaught Public School. It includes a wide variety of recreational activities. Call for locations and times. 
 
Cops, Kids and Communities - Officers, Auxiliary Officers and Administrative Staff from Collingwood and the Huronia West OPP detachments have joined forces with BBBS to allow children to spend time doing fun, healthy activities such as bowling, swimming and touring the OPP and fire stations while promoting the basic principles of respect, understanding, healthy eating and an active lifestyle. 
 
Homework Club - Currently operates on Tuesday and Thursday after school in Collingwood. Children in the BBBS program are matched to high school helpers who work one to one under the BBBS staff supervision. Healthy snacks are provided. Call for locations and times. 
 
Summer Camp Programs - Clients who might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience camp life or to travel outside their region are given priority but program is accessible to any client. 
 
Behind the scenes - There are many committee and project roles for volunteers who have different schedules and different assets to bring to the table. Some shorter term projects include arranging our yearly raffle (donations, tickets), working on furthering our endowment fund project, working on furthering our capital project for a larger and owned office space, Bowl for Kids Support to work on planning items for our big bowling event, creation of our signature lifesaver matchbooks. This is a wonderful hands-on opportunity to learn about our native wild animals. Procyon Wildlife Rehab counts on volunteer animal caregivers to carry out the essential duties that allow orphaned and injured animals to return to the wild. If you are able to commit 4 or 5 hours once a week, you will find this very rewarding! The duties of this ongoing volunteer position involve preparing food for, and feeding animals of all ages, cleaning cages, observing animal behaviour and condition, and record keeping. The position also involves housekeeping such as laundry, washing dishes, cleaning counters, floors, and equipment, and light yard work. The requirements for this position are: minimum 18 years of age; access to email, ability to travel to Procyon’s rehab centre near Beeton, Ontario, and ability to work your designated shift every week, holidays included. Time commitment: 5 hours per week, every week from April to October.

* Healing and Wellness – if you do you a healing modality (like Reiki or Therapeutic Touch) or gentle movement (like Tai Chi or yoga), we could use your talents for the 4 week sessions. 
* One to One Support – you would provide support for the caregiver, either by telephone or in person. 
* Caregiver Relief – for example, sitting with someone while the caregiver goes out.

Brechin and Beyond is looking for a secretary to take minutes at monthly meetings. They are the second Friday of every month and start at 9:30 am, usually ending between 11 and noon. The volunteer would need a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, have email and a working computer. We send an agenda in advance. The meetings are held at the Ramara Township offices in Brechin, just north of the stoplights on Highway 12, beside the Post Office.
