Suggesting Updates to Database Listings

When viewing the full details of a community program, you will see the option to 'Suggest Update' just below the name of the organization and program. Clicking this option will allow a user to submit feedback to Community Connection's team of data curators. Users can also select 'Suggest Record' on top menu bar to suggest a new listing.

Note: If you can't find a listing or would like to see a list of records by agency or category, email 211data@communityconnection.ca.

Description (Service) For individuals requiring assistance to complete their income tax and benefit return and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist. Volunteers E-File your return to CRA.

Can file 2017-2020 returns electronically, prior years require a mailed filing.

Eligibility These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only:
  • Single: Up to $35,000
  • Couple: Up to $45,000
  • Up to $50,000 for a family of four.


Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity



Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:
  • returns for deceased persons
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy
  • self-employed individuals
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses


Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients
  • Newcomers to Canada
  • Seniors
  • Students
Application Phone the Elmvale Library and leave your name and phone number and a volunteer will be in contact to arrange either an in-person or a virtual-by-phone appointment.
OR
Drop off your tax documents, date of birth, contact information (name, address, phone and email address) at the library. Please place all paperwork inside a sealed envelope labelled INCOME TAXES and your name. A volunteer will prepare them and return them for pickup.
